This attractive ultraviolet countertop filter is built by our favorite maker of small filter parts, QMP, Inc., of California. QMP is a strict “made in USA” manufacturer, known in the industry for innovation and for the high quality of its products.

We are proud to add the countertop ultraviolet unit to our Model 77 series of lifetime guarantee countertop filters.

We cannot, of course, offer it for the standard $77 price of all other Model 77 models. The electrical components more than double our cost, so we’re offering it for double the price of the regular unit. The price: only $154, and we still pay the shipping.

The unit uses the same premier quality QMP accessories—diverter valve, spout and tube elbow, and stainless steel spout—used on our regular Model 77 units. All tube connections are made with compression fittings rather than clamps to assure easy replacement without tools. We stock all replacement parts and accessories.

The unit comes in one color (white) and one vessel style only. If you prefer a long reach spout to the standard gooseneck model shown in the picture, just tell us in the comments section of the shopping cart and we’ll make the switch.

Ultraviolet (UV) has long been the standard in clean technology for bacteria control. This compact countertop unit allows use of well water of unsatisfactory or questionable microbiological status. It can be used with municipal tap water, but it is especially valuable for providing pure, safe water on unchlorinated wells. For a full discussion of UV and for undersink and whole house UV units, see our Pura section on this site (Ultraviolet Systems) and on our all-Pura site.

To install, remove the aerator from your faucet and screw on the diverter valve (foreground). The valve diverts water into the unit where it is forced through the wall of a very tight solid carbon block filter, which removes chemicals, cysts (giardia, cryptosporidium) and sediment. The water is then routed past the entire length of the UV lamp, which eliminates bacteria, before it exits through the stainless steel spout. Only a source of water and a standard 110 volt outlet are needed. The UV lamp uses only 10 watts of power and can be easily turned off when the unit is not in use. The carbon block filter normally is replaced after a year, or sooner if water conditions are very bad.
